The latest book, read on the Kindle. A fascinating story by Jules Verne, slightly overtaken with geological technicalities, but still a very compelling read. To be fair, the story somewhat hangs off the various geological layers (literally and in terms of the story) and it incorporates this science into the justification for the wilder elements of the story.
I’m not sure wether or not people of learning actually knew at that point in time (1864) what the composition of the earth was, but the reality and the fiction are blended really well.
An annoying related issue was the complete freezing of, and therefore death of the Kindle! This happened a couple of weeks ago and I haven’t yet managed to get a replacement sorted out.
