Transfer window slams shut…!

Three things stand out from the fenetic activity of late last night…

1) Bad boy Craig Bellamy is back, 2) there was the most activity in this window than I can remember seeing before, 3) Raul Meireles has legged it down to Chelsea!

Damian Comolli thinks he has the quality which LFC needs and I hope he knows what he’s doing. The last time he was at the club he put in some great performances but there were major personality and character issues with him, on and off the field + he’s 32 years old and on nearly £100,000 a week! He has the fighting qualities needed for the Premier LeagueCraig and is a life-long Liverpool fan so he deserves a chance at least.

A total of 17+ moves into and out of the club this year, with major restructuring  of playing and coaching staff. The key new signings were bought very early which gave them the whole of pre-season to train and settle in. The loaned out or sold players were given time to find suitable new clubs and Comolli and his team were given time to organise the transfers.

The one sore point is Meireles moving to Chelsea. He was certainly one of the clubs better players and that makes 3 LFC players who have gone down to Chelsea in 2 years (Torres, Yossi Benayoun, Meireles). They’re becoming the Liverpool rejects club! He handed his transfer request in on the final day of the window which will not go down well with the fans, but we did recoup his initial fee of £12Million.
