Park Hill – Sheffield…

It’s not often that I come across something which captures my complete attention and which then holds it. Sometimes something just emerges from a background of the ordinary or routine and makes an impact.

I was sent a video of the following development in Sheffield and was amazed by it – the largest listed building in Europe and a classic modernist 1960’s beast of a development.

The development and brochure are pure class and the exposed concrete framework of the development is incredible. The introduction of the varying coloured panels makes a great contrast with the dull industrial concrete, but is also quite fitting as coloured panels are very much a 1960/70’s feature of large commercial buildings.
