The Andy C experience…

Recently voted best drum and bass DJ at the National D&B Awards from The Institute in Birmingham – ANDY C! Head of RAM Records and consistently the best D&B DJ on the planet.

I just went through his Heidelberg set in April 2012 – pure magic and some huge tunes in there, plus it has a full track listing which is always useful. Here are some of the big tunes from this set which really define his style of D&B.

Heidelberg set…

Cyantific – ‘Infinity Plus One’

Calyx & Teebee – ‘Elevate This Sound’…

Loadstar – ‘Bomber’…

Major Lazer – ‘Get Free’…

Camo & Krooked – ‘Run Riot’… (this tune is huge and a stunning short film)

Mind Vortex – ‘Hot Box’…

Kove – ‘Iodine’…

Wilkinson – ‘Take You Higher’… (another huge tune from RAM Records)

Chase & Status – ‘No Problem’…

That’s about it!

Utah Jazz – ‘Qunicy’ v Mav – ‘Me Against The Machine’…

I was just about to slap my 12″ record on my decks to listen to this tune but thought – hang on, this has got to be on YouTube!

Quality rolling D&B with some nice samples pinning it together. I also have the full vocal version on the vinyl copy which is equally awesome – see below (but at a lower recorded volume)…

And also the other record I was going to play, one which is a good roller and with some very nice melodic sections. The B-side on the vinyl has a great intro, which I haven’t heard in about 10 years!

Beautiful Lies – B-Complex…

Something for a little early morning wake up!

Another good one…

DJ Fresh basically takes over…!

The sequence of tunes in the last two years, from the fast-becoming huge producer (ps sorry about the video adverts on You Tube! – stay with them – they are very worth watching/listening to)…

1) Talkbox (April 2009)

2) Gold Dust (01.08.10)

3) Louder (03.07.11)

4) Hot Right Now (12.02.12)

Listen to the sequence and marvel at the emergence of a huge producer. Founder and owner of the Breakbeat Kaos label + Bad Company.

The Skibba…!

A great D&B video with the legendary MC Skibadee (THE SKIBBA) on the mic. I really need to get back into D&B as it’s such a big part of who I am (and was). This one is ‘All Of My Junglists’, featuring Rachel Wallace.

This is Skibadee and MC Fun with the massive DJ Hype, doing a little studio recording for Kiss.

Stuff to do…

If anyone local to Gloucester, or not, sees this today, there are a couple of things happening which might be cool.

There’s a farm and music event at the Cross with rare breeds and bands etc, from 10-5.

There’s also a family fun day and nature trail thing at Barnwood park & Arboretum, from 11-4 (bouncy castle included!).

We’re going to try and go to both, so will let everyone know what they’re like.

It was Claire’s turn for a lie-in today, so I was up from 6:15 with Jac, then Jamie emerged an hour or so later. Really nice just playing with Jac and it’s defo less hectic with just one and without the ‘brotherly love’ AKA tussles and barging about!

So far we’ve read some books and played with Mr Potato Head! I also normally get up then put some music on the computer and we have a bit of a dance around, to get going. Normally put on Juno Records and get my Wishlist up. Lots of cool tracks on there, ranging from Drum and Bass to Disco (Jac’s fav).
