After 46 Miles (76 KM) of hills and heat, i’m back home and not feeling too bad. One of the hottest days of the year and right in the middle of our UK heat wave, Mr MCK and I decided on a round trip into the Forest of Dean, to Ross-on-Wye. Some amazing scenery on-route, with our journey taking us via Newent. Some challenging hills and we even had to get off the bikes and push a couple of times!
We had a well-deserved stop in Ross by the river with a pint of cider. Maybe not the best idea in terms of energy levels but nice : ) At the same time as our journey back, Andy Murray was in the process of comprehensively beating Djokovic in the Wimbledon final – I was hoping Murray would drop a set so I could catch the end but he wrapped up his first Wimbledon title in straight sets. At one point I was checking the sat nav on my mobile phone while also checking the final game points in the tennis! Well done Andy!
I’ve got a half-day on Friday and can’t wait to watch Portugal v Brazil and some tennis.
Just seen the article about this tennis game…
John Isner and Nicolas Mahut tore up the record books as their epic first-round contest at Wimbledon became the longest in tennis history.
The match was locked at 59-59 in the final set after 10 hours of play when it was suspended because of bad light.
The decision meant that, incredibly, the contest would go into a third day, having been called off at two sets all on Tuesday for the same reason.
I’ve seen games go to 20 something in the final set but this is incredible!
I’m quite excited about Wimbledon this year – actually, who am I kidding, i’m excited about Wimbledon every year!
While Jamie was at playgroup, Jac was sitting on my lap and we were watching Nadal’s first match on centre. I’ve got no idea why, but all of a sudden, Jac started sniggering and he had a big grin on his face. Everytime there was a rally, he did the same thing. It was so funny – he was even sniggering when Nadal was bouncing the ball before a serve!
